Panther News

Week of April 27, 2026

It’s GREAT to be a Portal Panther!

State testing begins for high school students this upcoming week. Please help your child be as successful as he/she can be by getting each day off to a smooth start, ensuring he/she gets adequate sleep each night, and by encouraging him/her.

Yearbooks

Yearbooks are still available for purchase. Students can see Mrs. Millican to purchase a yearbook or purchase one through our school store. They are $75 each.

Class Ring Orders: 10th Grade Students

To participate in next year's Junior Ring Ceremony, all Class of 2028 Class Ring orders must be placed by the last day of school. Orders placed after this date will not be included in the group delivery event.

How to Order: 1.    Shop Online: Visit the Herff Jones website to customize your ring.

 2.    View the Catalog: Browse over 70 ring styles and custom jacket options.

3.    Need help sizing? Email us at info@gradnow.com for assistance. Every Class Ring includes a Limited Lifetime Warranty, covering resizing and stone replacement for years to come.

Dress Code

As the weather has warmed up, please assist us by reminding your child that shorts and skirts should be at fingertip length or longer. Midriffs should not be exposed. Midriff-baring shirts and shirts that almost meet the top of students’ pants are very trendy right now, but they do not meet our district’s dress code.   We greatly appreciate your help in making sure your child is appropriately dressed each day!

Seniors- Scholarship Reminder

This is the time of the year that many college scholarship opportunities begin to roll out for our seniors. Please remind seniors to check their grade level Google Classroom which is where students are first notified about these various opportunities. Students can check scholarship information on our school website as well.

Parent Resource: Vaping 101

As part of our commitment to helping our students make healthy choices, we are sharing a resource on the risks of vaping. Vaping involves inhaling aerosol from an electronic cigarette, which often contains nicotine, flavorings, and other chemicals.. It is important to note that nicotine can significantly impact the development of the teen brain—a process that continues into the mid-20s—affecting memory, learning, and impulse control.

For tips on how to start an open dialogue with your teen or for more information on identifying warning signs—such as fruity scents, behavioral changes, or persistent coughs—please see the "Vaping 101" guide.
