For readers across Georgia, April 15 marks the first day of summer. Beginning today, you can read anywhere, anytime, and virtually anything, because Get Georgia Reading partner myON is delivering more than 10,400 free books to your computer and mobile devices that you can access 24 hours a day—every day—through Aug. 31.

You can search from more than 50 different categories and genres, fiction and nonfiction, picture books, graphic novels, chapter books, titles for struggling and reluctant readers, and Spanish and bilingual titles. It’s like having your own personal library right at your fingertips.

Bulloch County Schools will host Kindergarten Registration for the 2016-2017 school year May 2-6, 2016, at each of its nine elementary schools. Beginning May 2, parents and guardians may pick up registration packets at any elementary school during normal office hours, 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Parents and guardians should return completed packets to their zoned elementary school by end of the school day on May 6. During this time, you may also schedule an appointment for your child to be tested.

Only a child's parent or legal guardian may register a child for school. A child being enrolled in kindergarten must be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2016.

Please note,  If your child is currently enrolled in a Bulloch County Schools Pre-Kindergarten classroom, he or she does not need to be registered for kindergarten unless he or she will be attending a different school than where he or she attended pre-k.


Congratulations to the Portal Lady Panthers Golf Team. They earned their 3rd consecutive Area 2 championship title in Folkston on Monday. They qualified for the Class A state tournament to be held at Goshen Plantation in Augusta next month.

A one-time $1000 scholarship will be awarded.  The scholarship money will be sent directly to the institution of choice as soon as the recipient provides proof of enrollment.


  1. Be a Bulloch County high school senior accepted to any accredited technical, 2 year, 4 year or junior college/university
  2. Have a cumulative minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  3. Participated in athletic sports during high school in any capacity (videographer, manager or player)
  4. Demonstrate a sense of community through volunteer and community service activities

In order to be considered for the Jordan Aubrey Memorial Scholarship, items 1 – 4 must be received by May 10, 2016.  Incomplete submissions will not be considered.  Application form, transcript and essay response must be mailed together in one envelope.  Recommendations can be mailed separately with the applicant's name in the upper left corner of the recommendation. See application attached below.

  1. A completed scholarship application form.  The form must be legible or typed
  2. An official copy of the student’s most recent academic transcript
  3. Three letters of recommendations from non-family members.  One of the letters must be from an individual who can address the student’s service-related contributions.  One of the letters must be from an individual who can address the student’s athletic participation and impact.
  4. One to two page, preferably typed double spaced, response to the essay question  

Middle School cheer try-outs
will be May 3rd-5th.
We will practice on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-5:00 pm.

Try-outs will begin on
Thursday starting at 3:30.
The squad will be posted on 
Friday after school.

*If students have a physical from last year dated after April 1,
they will not need to have another one done to participate in try-outs.
