Congratulations Lizzie Mallard

Congratulations to Lizzie Mallard for earning 2nd Place at the Area 4 Floral Design that was held on September 23, 2014. She will represent Area 4 in the State Floral Design CDE on December 6th at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Former Portal Star Highlight

Former Portal Panthers Defensive end Theo Rich started for South Alabama which lost to Georgia Southern University on Saturday. Rich has eight tackles and a sack in two games. Rich signed with North Carolina State in 2011 but attended Itawamba Community College in Mississippi before becoming a South Alabama Jaguar.

Theo played only one season as a prep at Portal High, starting at both defensive end and wide receiver. A first-team all-region selection after posting 45 tackles — which included 12 stops for loss and seven sacks — three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. On offense, he added 11 catches for 190 yards and a score, earning team MVP honors. Rich was a four-year letter winner in basketball for the Panthers as well.

PMHS Chosen as a "Highest-Progress" Reward School

PMHS Chosen as a "Highest-Progress" Reward School

For the second consecutive year, Portal Middle High School was chosen as a "Highest-Progress School" by the Georgia Department of Education. A "High-Progress School" is among the top 10 percent of Title I schools in the State that is making the most progress in improving the performance of the "all students" group over three years on the statewide assessments. Portal Middle High was one of 156 “Highest Progress” schools. “Our teachers and students are responsible for this tremendous academic growth,” said first-year principal, Dr. Karen Doty.
